Department of Social Sciences is mainly responsible for the teaching of ideological and political theory courses, humanities and social sciences, college students’ mental health and cultivation of postgraduates major in Ideological and Political Education.

 

It consists of five teaching and research sections and the Center  of Psychological Health and Guidance of College Students. In 2006, it successfully applied for the professional master program in Ideological and Political Education and passed the special inspection of the construction of political theory courses in higher educational institutions of JiangsuProvince. In 2013, it was entitled “Labor Pioneer” by the provincial education and science departments of Jiangsu. Two courses were rated for university level quality courses.

 

Currently the department has 28 teachers, including 3 professors, 9 associate professors, 2 postdoctorals, 13 doctorals and 2 doctoral candidates. Apart from teaching, the department attaches great importance to academic research and has made significant achievements. It has edited or jointly edited dozens of treatises, undertaken two National Social Science Fund projects, three Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Science projects, dozens of projects of Philosophy and Social Science Research Fund in Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu Province and provincial education department’s CPC Party Construction Projects, and other projects both in and out of the school, and published hundreds of papers.
