Professor Peng Sixun (1919-    )

Prof. Peng ia a medicinal chemist and pharmaceutical educator. He graduated from the University of Columbia in the U. S. with a master degree in Pharmacy in 1950, and was elected academician of ChineseAcademy of Engineering in 1996. He was a member of the CPPCC National Committee, and vice-chairman of the CPPCC of JiangsuProvince. Currently he is the academic leader of key discipline of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of ChinaPharmaceuticalUniversity, Ph.D. supervisor, honorary director of Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, and honorary president of Jiangsu Provincial Pharmaceutical Association.


He has been engaged in research of central nerves inhibiting drugs, non-fertility drugs and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs and has made outstanding contribution to the field of medicinal chemistry. He chiefly edited the first national textbook in pharmacy, “Medicinal Chemistry”. He also edited or jointly edited six books, including “Progress in Medicinal Chemistry” and “Medicinal Chemistry - Review and Development”, and published more than 170 papers. He won Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation for Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 1999.
