President LAI Visits Pharm.D. Partner Institutions

May 3 ~ 7, 2016:  CPU sends a delegation to visit US partner Institutions with the aim to promote cooperation and to enhance the international impact of CPU. The delegation was led by CPU President Prof. LAI Maode and attended by Prof. HAO Haiping Dean of School of Pharmacy, Prof. XU Xiaoyuan Director of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Professor YOU Qidong and Associate Prof. Sun Minjie of the School of Pharmacy.


CPU established Pharm.D. cooperation programs with the University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, Ohio State University in 2014.  China Scholarship Council has been providing funding support to the project for 2 years. The delegation met the Dean of College of Pharmacy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. During the talks, the two universities fully affirmed the achievements of cooperation, and had further conversation on student admission, curriculum and other issues. The delegation also met Pharm.D. students enrolled in the co-program and listened to their reports on study and life. Students gave highly positive feedbacks especially on a lot of progress they have made during the study abroad. The partner institutions are very satisfied with those competitive students. Then both universities discussed on the possible cooperation in scientific research and joint laboratories.


The delegation then arrived at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. During the visit, a framework agreement was signed between China Pharmaceutical University and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, identifying student exchange program and cooperation in scientific research. Prof. HAO Haiping and Prof. YOU Qidong gave keynote speeches for the two institutions to deepen understanding on each other's areas of research. The delegation attended the graduation ceremony of the School of Pharmacy and Medical Center at University of Nebraska, and met with outstanding alumnus Professor Ram Mahato. Professor Ram Mahato graduated from CPU School Pharmacy in 1989 and is currently Chair of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Nebraska.


The visit to the United States strengthens the cooperation between China Pharmaceutical University and its U.S. counterparts, adding new partner institutions into the network and increasing the international impact of CPU.
