Research Summary

Professor Yao’s research is being focused on the development of polysaccharides-based nanoparticulate drug delivery system for the delivery of genomic and chemical drugs to improve the drug tumor targeting distribution and cancer therapy efficacy, and reduce the side-effects of drugs. In recent years, her focus has been the design and evaluation of amphiphilic polymer-drug conjugates. Such  polymer-drug conjugatescould self-assemble into the nanoparticles in the aqueous medium and encapsulate the insoluble drugs, which would facilitate the co-delivery of two or three antitumor drugs for combination therapy.Moreover, she also focused onthe study of calcium-based nanoparticles for drug delivery to facilitate the transmembrane transport of drugs and improve their therapeutic effect.
