Research Summary

Associate Professor PAN’s research focuses on exploring new medicinal leads from natural resources including plants and marine organisms. His research includes isolation of natural products via various chromatographic techniques and identification of their chemical structures by spectroscopic methods. Recently, he is working on the alkaloids from the clubmoss Lycopodium and related genera. The isolated alkaloids from his lab show potent anti-acetylcholine esterase activities and may provide new therapeutics against neurodegenerative diseases.
