Research Summary

Professor SUN’s research focuses on drug discovery for metabolic diseases and cancer. For metabolic diseases, he is interested in target identification and drug discovery for disorders of lipid metabolism, which is correlated with hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, insulin resistance, coronary heart disease, and heart failure, etc. As the inventor of Vicagrel, a new anti-platelet drug, he is leading clinical trials on this promising drug. Moreover, he and co-workers recently finished a concept-proof clinical trialon oleanolic acid as a promisinglipid-lowering agent. Further target identification and mechanistic studies are ongoing. For cancer therapy, the Suns group is developing deubiqutinase inhibitors, especially inhibitors of USP7 and USP28.
