Research Summary

Prof. Jiang investigates the pathomechanism of cholestatic and hepatocellular injury in herbal induced liver disease (HILD), especially cholestasis caused by perturbation of hepatocyte polarization after treatment with two herbal, dioscorea bulbifera (DB) and Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F (TWHF) both in vitro and in vivo models. The goal of this project is to deepen our understanding of the molecular mechanism of HILD and find appropriate methods that could be able to predict herbal candidate hepatotoxicity in humans before the start of clinical phases.
