Research Summary

In early 1960s, Prof. Peng studied on centrol depressants.Later he studied on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. After 1980s,he was meanly engaged in cardiovascular drugs, particularly interested in those compounds acting on calcium or potassium ion channels. One of the research projectsStudies Based on Molecular Modification and Biological Activity of Chinese Medicinal Materialshad been carried out for more than 10 years.Several compounds showed good cardiovascular effects to be further studied. One of such compounds,86017,was a multiple ion channel blocker with anti-arrhythmic activity, preclinical studies had been finished ,obtained 4 countries` patents.Another compounds CPU23 had been proved to be a novel calcium antagonist with hypotensive activity, its binding site probably was on the DHP receptor of L-type calcium ion channel by molecular modeling analysis.Furthermore,a new potassium ion channel blocker BTHP was also identified.
