Research Summary

Associate Professor Sun’s research is mainly engaged in the tumor pathogenesis and nature antitumor drug discovery research. Mainly studies are focused on the belowaspacts:

  1. Discovery the mechanisms for tumor microenvironment, extracellular matrix and cancer metastasis, especially in breast cancer and lung cancer. Our research group discovered that lysyl hydroxylase 2 (PLOD2) is the key downstream signal molecule of EGFR, an important mutational activation receptor in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We have proved that PLOD2 regulated by the transcription factor FOXA1 via PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, revealing the novel mechanism in the tumor microenvironment (TME) for metastasis and the potential therapeutic strategy for NSCLC. These results have been published on CDD (2017).

  2.  Combination of nature anti-cancer drugs with clinical first-line chemotherapy drugs, to improve the effectiveness and decrease its side-effects. Our group recently published two papers entitled “Synergistic combination of DT-13 and topotecan inhibits human gastric cancer via myosin IIA-induced endocytosis of EGF receptor in vitro and in vivo" and “DT-13 synergistically enhanced vinorelbine-mediated mitotic arrest through inhibition of FOXM1-BICD2 axis in non-small cell lung cancer cells”, both combination of DT-13 with chemotherapy drugs to increase their anti-cancer effect.
