Dr. Hang began his university study in 1980, received his S.B. in chemistry in 1984 and his Master degree in Analytical Chemistry in 1987 both at the Nanjing University of China. He joined the faculty in the School of Pharmacy at the China Pharmaceutical University in June 1987 and began his work as an analytical pharmacist ever since. He worked as a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Strathclyde of UK from September 1991 until December 1992. Dr. Hang completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Analysis at the China Pharmaceutical University in 2002.

Areas of research emphases include the development of new comprehensive approaches using modern analytical and chemometrical techniques for the analysis and evaluation of the chemical drugs and traditional Chinese medicines (TCM), comparative pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies of the active components in the TCM, isolation and identification of related substances or metabolites.

Dr. Hang is the editorial board member for both Chinese Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis and Chinese Journal of New Drugs. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications, two books and several invited book chapters.
