Peng Sixun (July 28, 1919 - December 9, 2018), male, Tujia ethnic group, was a native of Baojing, Hunan. He is a pharmaceutical chemist and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.He graduated from the National Pharmaceutical College in 1942 and received his master's degree from Columbia University in 1950. After returning to China, he served as professor, doctoral supervisor, provost, vice president of Nanjing Pharmaceutical University, director of Jiangsu Institute of Pharmaceutical Research, member of the first and second disciplinary review group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and convener of the pharmacy group, invited examiner of the selection committee of the National Invention Prize, member of Pharmacopoeia Committee of the State Ministry of Health and the review committee of the New Drugs, chairperson of the review committee of the National Fund for New Drugs, chairperson of the review committee of the National Higher Pharmaceutical Colleges, chairperson of the review committee of the Beijing Medical University, and chairperson of the Review Committee of the National Higher Medical College. He is also a member of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Natural and Biomimetic Drugs of Beijing Medical University, a member of the Standing Committee of the Eighth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and the Vice Chairman of the Seventh CPPCC of Jiangsu Province. He was advisor of China Pharmaceutical University, academic leader of State Key Discipline of Medicinal Chemistry, chairman of Degree Evaluation Committee, advisor of National Leading Coordination Group of New Drug Research and Development, vice president of China Pharmaceutical Education Association, honorary professor of Central South University, and chairman of Pharmaceutical Society of Jiangsu Province.
He is one of the founders of chemical pharmacy and medicinal chemistry in China. He edited the first textbook of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in China, which was honored as a national excellent textbook. He founded the journal “Pharmacy Education” and other magazines. He edited the series of Chinese Pharmacy Yearbook and the Journal of China Pharmaceutical University, and was the editorial board member or advisor of many academic journals. He has published more than 140 papers and edited 5 monographs. He has long been engaged in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular actives research, focusing on compounds acting on calcium and potassium ion channels and nitric oxide modulators. She has discovered a variety of cardiovascular active substances with development prospects, among which, chlorobenzylidine has been granted patents at home and abroad and is applying for clinical trials. He has presided over several research projects in the 7th and 8th Five-Year Plans. His research results have won the second prize of Shandong Province and Jiangsu Province Scientific and Technological Progress Award, the third prize of State Education Commission Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and the He Liang He Li Scientific and Technological Progress Award respectively. He has trained more than 50 doctors and masters. He was awarded the honor of Jiangsu Province Teaching and Educating Outstanding Graduate Tutor and Jiangsu Province Outstanding Academic Leader. He has been to Europe and the United States and other 10 countries for visits and academic exchanges.
