From December 26 to 29, 2024 China-Korea Joint Pharmaceutical Academic Symposium was successfully held in Nanjing, hosted by School of Pharmacy and State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicine, and co-hosted by Office of International Exchange and Cooperation. Vice President Yao Hequan attended the opening ceremony of the symposium. Experts and scholars from over 15 institutions in China and South Korea attended the symposium. The opening ceremony was hosted by Xu Ming, Director of Office of International Exchange and Cooperationm, China Pharmaceutical University.
At the opening ceremony, Yao Hequan, vice president of the university, delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that China and South Korea have their own advantages in the development of pharmacy and a solid foundation for cooperation. China Pharmaceutical University attaches great importance to academic exchanges and cooperation with Korea's top universities, and promotes cooperation and exchange in the field of biomedicine to achieve practical scores. It is hoped that the organization of this symposium will bring together the strength of experts and scholars from universities in both countries to further promote the development of the discipline of pharmacy and the innovation and cooperation in the field of medicine. Academician Wang Guangji of the Chinese Academy of Engineering,China Pharmaceutical University made a speech through video, academician Chong-Su Cho from Seoul National University, fellow of Korean Academy of Science and Technology, and Prof. Kong Lingyi, School of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China Pharmaceutical University delivered speeches one after another. Afterwards, more than 20 experts from the two countries, including academician Chong-Su Cho from Seoul National University, Prof. Wu Wei from Fudan University, and Prof. Hyo-jong Lee from Sungkyunkwan University, presented and exchanged views on the mechanism of disease occurrence, drug research and development, and biomedical technology.

During the event, Prof. Xu Ming, Director of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, CPU and Mr. Sang-Jeon Chung, Dean of the School of Pharmacy of Sungkyunkwan University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of the two universities, marking a new chapter of cooperation between the two sides. In addition, Prof. Hulin Jiang of the School of Pharmacy and Prof. Jee-Heon Jeong of Sungkyunkwan University, on behalf of the laboratories of the two universities, inaugurated the “China-Korea International Joint Laboratory of High-end Antifibrotic Agents”, which is designed to promote the two sides to carry out a higher level in the field of antifibrotic research and to promote a wider range of in-depth exchanges and collaborations, This platform aims to promote the two sides to carry out higher level and wider scope of in-depth exchanges and collaboration in the field of antifibrosis research.

In the follow-up activities, invited by the School of Pharmacy, the Korean experts visited the State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicinces, participated in the internal communication meeting of the China-Korea International Joint Laboratory, and discussed the international cooperation and exchange between the two universities. Representatives of Korean experts shared their ideas of laboratory development, and suggested on international cooperation and exchange in talent training, faculty development, scientific research collaboration, etc., to jointly promote the prosperous development of pharmaceutics.

This China-Korean Joint Pharmacy Symposium was jointly initiated by Prof. Jiang Hulin, deputy director of the Department of Pharmacy of the School of Pharmacy of the University, and Korean professors, mainly focusing on the mechanism of disease occurrence, drug research and development, biomedical technology, etc., to carry out academic discussions and cutting-edge technology exchanges. The symposium not only deepened the relationship between our university and Korean universities, but also made important contributions to discipline construction, scientific research exchanges, and enhancement of international influence.
