School Leaders were invited to visit Hong Kong

From February 16th to 17th, at the invitation of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Vice President Yang Yong accompanied a delegation of the Nanjing Municipal Government to visit Hong Kong. The visit mainly focused on the innovation of technological resources and the efficient transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

On the 16th, Vice President Yang Yong visited the laboratories and research institutes of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) with the Mayor of Nanjing, Mr. Chen Zhichang, and his entourage, and had an in-depth conversation with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of HKUST, Mr. Shen Xiangyang, and the President of HKUST, Mr. Yeru Ye, to discuss how to realize the seamless connection of the innovation resources of the universities of the two cities and the deepening cooperation between the two cities.

On the 17th, Vice President Yang Yong accompanied Mayor of Nanjing Chen Zhi Chang, Chairman of the Board of Governors of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) Mr. Lam Tai Fai, and President Teng Kam Kwong to visit the Laboratory of Ophthalmic Optometry of the HKPU and the Research Center for Deep Space Exploration (a National Key Laboratory), and attended the Nanjing (Hong Kong) Science and Technology Innovation Environment Promotion and Exchange Meeting. At the meeting, Vice President Yang Yong, on behalf of the University, signed a tripartite memorandum of cooperation with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Gulou District Government of Nanjing to build a high-level science and technology innovation platform and an efficient results transfer system through sharing the advantages of the two places and collaborative innovation.

The visit further boosted the in-depth dialog between the university and Hong Kong universities and government in the industry-university-research cooperation, laid a good foundation for the close cooperation in the fields of education, scientific research and cultural industry, and effectively enhanced the visibility and influence of the university.
